Hi Rohan, It's definitely a tough market to get started in, as it's super unaffordable. I would suggest looking elsewhere where the numbers make more sense, but if you want to move into your next property that does make it tricky. If I know a bit more about your ultimate goal of investing in real estate, I might be of more help.

Thanks for the responses, the main goal is to keep them long term mainly for a next source of income. I agree I need to look into areas further outside of the Metro Vancouver area or possibly outside of BC seeing that BC is rent controlled with only a small allowance each year. I am thinking I will just move and rent out this space I have and refinance in a few years to access equity to invest in other areas.

Hey everyone,

I have lurked over BP a little and listened to a few podcasts and events and would like to reach out to meet some of the other investors in the Metro Vancouver Canada area (Currently located in Burnaby).

I have been interested in real estate for a while but was always afraid of the high costs in purchasing a home so I never pursued it. I finally overcame that fear a little over a year ago to purchase a place (primary residence) and now I am looking to purchase a second place to which I will move to and rent the current one out.

The Metro Vancouver market is quite hot and it's hard to find a decent deal so would love to connect with others in the area to hear there thoughts.
