Hi,

Purchased a 3 bed/1 bath home in Milwaukee, WI in May 2017 for cash. Renovated the home with cash and it now has an after renovation value of $130k - $140k. Will rent out the home for $1,300/month but would like to refinance in order to get our capital back.

Are there any banks/lenders that will refinance a home before the 6 month seasoning period?

Thank you,

Ross

Welcome to the BP community, Andrew! I too have been dreaming about real estate investing and am looking forward to my first deal very soon. Best of luck to you!

@Peter Kush,

For Milwaukee, the area East of the Milwaukee River downtown and then areas west of 50th(ish) ave. are nice. West of downtown just isn't as popular as East of downtown is for your target market of young professionals.

You'll be able to get a feel for that on Saturday. Good luck!

I will echo what Nick and Darren are saying about the area.  I went to college at Marquette University, which is about 15 blocks east of that area, and 37th and Juneau is a bit run down. With that said, if you're looking for strictly cash flow and not hoping to fix and flip, it's fine.

You should definitely plan on having to spend some money fixing the units up once tenants move out.

Keep us updated, Peter!

@Dave Carpenter

My business partner and I are looking to invest in the south Bay View area, concentrating on fixing and flipping single family homes at first and then moving into the income property market.

I would be interested in hearing how you came to acquire your first duplex?

After years of simply talking about investing in real estate, my business partner and I are ready to put some skin in the game.  I look forward to learning from all of you and contributing as much information/knowledge as I can.  Feel free to reach out to me.
