Hello BiggerPockets! I want to get started in real estate this year and found myself gravitating towards the BRRRR approach. I am looking for someone in the Greater Seattle area who has knowledge in this area and wouldn't mind sharing that knowledge over coffee/lunch (on me of course).

I am available most weeknights and weekends, thank you and I look forward to networking with you!

Roy Z.

@James Babb Great questions! I hope both Patrick and Lane could share their insights on the Seattle area. My intention was to house hack, but there seems to be a shortage of good deals, with most going well above listing!

@Lane Kawaoka

@Tom Ott Thanks for the words of encouragement! I am definitely in research mode and know I have a ways to go.

@Patrick Britton @Lane Kawaoka Thanks for the advice. I don't want to make it seem like the reason I want to get into real estate is because I am tired of rent. I just meant that I wanted to use the money I would normally use for rent to payoff my property, rather than putting it into someone else's pocket.

Right now I am focusing on learning and figuring our what would work best for me, nothing really set in stone. I know there are a lot of ways of making money in real estate, but I am a complete newbie. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello-

My name is Roy Z. I am 29 yrs old and I currently work at a due diligence firm doing project management. My wife and I moved up to Seattle from Santa Ana, CA for her Tech job about a year ago.

I personally have no experience in real estate, but am very eager to learn and to see if this is right for me. I stumbled onto this site while browsing the web and have been captivated since with podcasts and beginners' guides. Now I am here introducing myself, hoping to participate on the forums and learn from the pros and possibly getting some mentors along the way.

As for my goals, I want to purchase my first property in 2017. Possibly a duplex/triplex and house hack, while taking advantage of FHA. Definitely tired of throwing away ~$25K/year on rent. By year 5, I want to own 3-5 single family homes/duplex/triplex. By year 10, I would like to possibly look into larger multifamily units/commercial properties and have enough cash flow to quit my job and do this full time.

The reason I listed 3 separate cities in the title, while I currently live in Seattle, our plans are to move back to SoCal in 2-3 years. I listed Fresno, because I have a lot of family there and the market is a lot cheaper.

As I said earlier, I am very eager to learn and would like to meet like minded folks.
