@Jenna Estefan @Jay Hinrichs @Chris Mason  Thank you to all of you for the confirmation that this is still being used frequently in this area. That is all i needed to reassure that I am not wasting my time researching and calling around about this! I really appreciate it...

Thanks for the tip @Chris Mason

Seeing that you are a lender, how is the demand for mobile notaries where you are? Where do you think this is headed in the future?

Colleen F. Thanks for the info! That was the the same impression I got from the last mobile notary I asked. Not only did she say she could work as much as she wanted, it was financially the best job she ever had. No real numbers, but this was a college grad, mom of 3 in here late 40s/early 50s. Anyone else with some input? I'm just really looking for confirmation that this is not a dying profession. From what I understand, there are plenty of options for behind the counter, $10 one signature notaries. However, few options for mobile ones certified to do loan docs and more difficult assignments.

Yes it is initially trading time for money. From what I am reading, there's a few websites that generate most of the business for these notaries. The websites are very poorly made and I'm really getting into this to eventually compete with them on that level. Just need some real people in the industry to confirm some information.

How common/accepted are tile floors in South Carolina? That would be my preferred material for longevity but it is too cold where I live.

Hardwood is nice if you are in a high-end neighborhood but the refinishing is NOT a cheap or quick job.... If a pet damages the hardwood you are basically paying the same cost as carpet but need a more skilled laborer.

This one is for everyone in Snohomish County, King County, or Skagit County. While were at it, let's throw in Island County WA.

Is there much demand for mobile notary services around here these days? I've talked to two in the last year at the closing table and it seems like business has been good for them.

The reason I ask is that I am currently in between projects and will have some free time to start and learn a new business. Mobile notary is something that has been on my mind. Not only do I see an opportunity building an income source without a set schedule, I also see a weakness in the way mobile notary services advertise around here and believe I can change this to benefit the industry. This is based on what I see online and would need to confirm some information first; preferably with someone active in the industry.

So does anyone have any input on this? Not only am I interested in providing this for the RE industry (closing docs), I am also interested in any info you have on providing these services to jails, hospitals, or anything else in the area.

Thanks in advance!

Post: need a re agent to help with comps

Just call any agent in your area and they should do this for free especially if you offer to let them sell it.

If you are looking for the hardest working agent in town, I would call today/tomorrow (weekend). This is one of my favorite strategies to find good agents. If you are an agent and you aren't working Saturday/Sunday, you are either too good for me or not good enough. Contact 5+ agents and tell them you are on a strict timeline. Most of them won't be able to get you your comps until at least Monday. The one agent that gets you your comps tonight/tomorrow morning is your closer.

Hope this helps!

Post: Is No Bathtub Really A Deal Breaker?

I removed my tub for a stand up shower a couple years ago. It was a hard choice since historically people have always considered a house with no tub a deal breaker for families with kids. After asking many professionals in the area, the general consensus seems to be that stand up showers are starting to be more acceptable and many are even starting to prefer it. I still ask this question quite often and I have yet to hear someone say it's a bad idea to remove the tub. Only person that ever told me not to was my dad and old internet articles (pre 2005).

Jonathan S. Congrats on everything so far! Sounds like an excellent start. Since you have one duplex and one single family, I think now is a good time to decide whether you want to stick to smaller units or eventually try to move into 5+ unit buildings. A 20 unit is really just 10 duplexes with less roofs. If you can handle tenants sharing walls, there are better RE opportunities out there than SF IMO.
