@ David Ounanian WOW that is some crap! I wonder if those who just rent out a room in their primary residence are also seeing this increase? The city and state already get taxes from each booking. I'll have to keep and ear out to see if there are ever any town halls or something where people like us can voice our side.

@ Andrew Robbins How do your other tenants like having Airbnb's in their building? A lot of places that big around here don't allow it because of safety concerns and noise.

UPDATE:

After going through the inspection, I've decided to NOT go through with the deal. So... back to the hunt. Good news is that I already have a couple good choices to look at seriously.

I live in IL but looking to invest primarily in MO and other states in the future (IL property taxes KILL cash flow). I'd like to start an LLC for my properties. Does it matter if the LLC is registered in one state over another?

@David Ounanian, do you have a source for that? Or is it just rumor? How would they even know unless they go through each and every Airbnb listing in the city?

The house is in the Tower Grove area. I would also like to get involved in single and multi-family long-term rentals. We are starting with an Airbnb so we have a place we can use as well.
