Post: FHA House Hack

Let's say I'm looking to go in at 3.5% on a duplex in the Columbus area using an FHA. I've been seeing properties go for 250k-350k that are within a reasonable range for an investment. What amount of cash saved is feasible for this option?

House hack a 4 plex. Do you have family who could cosign a loan? That would get you started right away.

 What would cosigning do specifically?

Hi Sam,

I think that's fantastic that you're looking at getting a head start in RE. House hacking is a great way to get started! If you're able to save the money I would also look into getting a duplex up to a five plex to start but renting your rooms out on a SFH is pretty common if you plan on having friends rent from you (which can also be kind of a gamble depending on your relationship with them).

Just make sure you go into it with the proper mindset and think beyond that first year!

If you have any specifics about house hacking or investing feel free to ask.

Thanks for the advice! What is one thing I should be aware of before investing in a house hack?

Hey all! I am graduating college next year and am looking for some advice about getting started in real estate investing. I like the idea of house hacking and am heavily considering this once I start my W-2 full-time position. Anything helps, I am eager to learn!

How do you go about finding areas to invest in with limited capital?
