@Peter Mckernan

Hi Peter,

thanks so much for replying to my post. Yes, saving for a few more months will definitely give me a better chance in the bidding war.

Greetings, Sam.

@Kanchi Ji

Hi Kanchi,

I am just seeing your post, I didn't mean to reply so late.

Ironically, I will have my Florida license first. My husband and I planned on buying property there this spring, however, a work promotion on his side changed plans abruptly. Now I am planning on getting my VA license next, and shortly after that the MD license to work in both states.

Keep me updated on your process and hopefully we can help each other out in the future. I am interested in meeting/networking with other like-minded people. If you know about up-coming events in your area, please let me know.

Thanks, Sam.

@Lance Trezona

Hi Lance, I really appreciate your reply! I am worried about the price increase too, as well as the increasing interest rate over the next 12 months... We could do the 6 Months lease for about $1,800 + utilities, and if we changed to month-month after that the rent would be about $2,200 + utilities. Whereas,  12 months would be at a steady $1,500 + utilities, but downside is that we will be so bound for a year.

If my math is correct we would pay rent in the amounts of about :

 * $18,000 for 12 months ( but could save up to 70 k)

* $10,800 for 6 Months and lets say an additional

* $ 6,600 for 3 months (of month-month)

=  $17,400  for 9 months (and a savings of about 45 k)

I think I like your idea of 6 months and then moving to month to month a lot.

Thanks!!!

Hi BiggerPockets people!

I would like your advise and opinion on the following:  should I extend my lease for another year in my current apartment or for only six months before buying my first home?  If my husband and I stayed for another 12 months we could potentially build up a saving of $60k-$70k, whereas if we stayed for 6 months our savings will most likely only go up to $25k -$28k. We are so motivated to buy a SF-house/duplex, start house hacking and stop paying someone rent. However, I am more inclined on waiting a year, rake up those savings and have leverage once we see a great deal, whereas my husband is more aggressive and wants to go fully in in 6 months.

What do you think we should do? What makes more sense?

I am happy about every advice I can get. Thanks, Sam.

Hi everyone,

my name is Sam (Samira). I live in the DMV area and am interested in becoming a Real Estate agent, as well as a Real Estate investor. I was wondering if someone is willing und able to introduce me into the world of Real Estate by letting me shadow them? I am currently enrolled in a Real Estate Education course (Realestateexpress) in order to get my Real Estate licenses in MD and VA.

A little about me: I am 32 years old, and originally from Germany. I am pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, and would like to use that knowledge in the fields of Real Estate.

What I offer: I am hungry to learn and do not shy away from work.

I am thankful for any feedback! And even if this post will result in only one network opportunity, I will gladly take it! Everyone starts small.

Greetings, Sam.
