Post: Flipping an old house

Hello, we are looking at buying our first renovation property, but the house is OLD, built circa 1900. I know that buying a house this old comes with challenges, like old wiring, plumbing, etc that will need to be replaced if it hasn't been thus far. But my question is, does the age of a home like this scare buyers away, even if the renovation is thorough and very well done? Wondering if anyone has experience with this. Thanks!

 So far as I know driving for dollars can be effective, especially looking for those distressed properties in your local area and cold calling or leaving postcards like you mentioned. I've seen other wholesalers use bandit signs and driving for dollar apps. 

I've also learned networking is very important. Never enough contacts to find deals and execute.


 Yes I know we are trying to build a network currently, what is driving for dollars?

We have been looking loosely at Detroit but a lot of the neighborhoods around there scare me, lots of run down homes selling for pennies on the dollar. Do you think Detroit would be a good area for house flipping? We have also been heavily looking at surrounding areas, ie Troy, Rochester, W Bloomfield, etc
