Actually, the average sales price in Union county is $227,000. Homes in Marvin, Weddington and parts of Waxhaw are in the higher price range but then you will also have higher rents. Rentals go fast in that market as well because of the schools and massive amounts of new construction. People are moving here from elsewhere, often renting while they build.  Neighborhoods like Cureton, Hunter Oaks, Lawson. Prescott and Millbridge are in that higher price point.

St. Johns Forest, Camberly, Hermitage Place, Brandon Oaks, Lake Park are all in the under $250,000 range renting for 1600+

SF is hot all over Charlotte but you might also want to consider just south in Union County also. It is the fastest growing county in the state, lower property taxes and commutable to uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne.

Indian Trail, Stallings, Waxhaw, Weddington are all good to look at.  Mint Hill is also good as is Huntersville on the north side.
