Thank you all for valuable comments, seems as finding a tax accountant may be the best bet. Is just that I have been doing my own tax for years(was less complex), and I like to not only know how things work, pehaps why they work the way they do...i would like to give it a shot at least one

Steven- Thank you for your comment and suggestion. I thought I would eventually need professional help, I have only owned the duplex since September 2012, so I thought I would do 2012 tax my self just to get an idea what goes on.

I am a new owner of a duplex that I live in one unit and rent out the other unit. needless to say is a Tax year, and I am doing my own tax. I have done some maintenance on the bulding as a whole. My question is can I include my time as part of cleaning and Maintenance? my other question is has anyone used Tax Software such as Turbo Tax? I am curious to hear what they thought of it and if its worth investing in it. Finally, I know I can write off business license, I just do not know where goes on schedule E..
