Thank you, Rhonda. That's very good feedback.

What makes my situation a little ambiguous is that I am about smack in the middle ..

Im in my mid 40s, I earn a considerable income at my corporate job but took me a bit to get here. However, I'd like to get out of the corporate environment soon, but can continue with it longer if need be. I am risk averse by nature, but also have the fear of missing out. So, think I am leaning towards splitting my windfall equally between the mortgage and investments.

There is the lure to be completely done with the mortgage, feel that exhilaration and then to push along with investments in earnest after that..

But, your statement towards the end of wishing you had been more aggressive earlier also struck a very strong chord with me. Thanks again!

All,

I'm a newbie. House hacking does not work for my situation. I still have a mortgage on my primary home, and recently acquired a rental in a smaller cheaper market. I might come into money. My internal debate is whether to first pay off my primary mortgage, get to a point where I am living mortgage free, or should I buy more and continue to work.

Any thoughts and inputs will be highly appreciated..

Thanks!
