Post: Starting out private lending in CA

I want to start doing private lending with my own money. The goal is to lend relatively close to my home in Los Angeles. Finally, don't want to put all my (lending) eggs in one basket. Are there opportunities to lend around $100K at a time in this area? Do I look to partner with other lenders? Appreciate any guidance.

Is anyone rehabbing small multifamily apartments in Portland?  I live in CA, any leads on investor groups online for Portland would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there, I have been poking around the site and listening to podcasts for months. Thought I would introduce myself here. I live in Oakland, ca and am a commercial contractor currently building condos in San Francisco. I have a decent chunk of money saved that I really want to invest in real estate. Have sort of felt paralyzed as I want to invest locally, but the Bay Area is astronomically high priced. I just don't feel comfortable going to the exurbs (ie Modesto) or way out of state (ie Memphis or North Carolina). Anyhow, I am determined to make my first investment this year. I am convinced buy and hold is the way for me. Am happy to partner. See you around the site. Thanks, Alex
