Hi Derek,

Welcome. I am also new to the site and interested in getting started in investing. I plan on getting involved and attending some meetings around the area.

I agree with you on the Boston home prices...with the costs to get into the investment and the expense it doesn't leave room for any free cash flow.

I am curious as to which areas you were interested in looking into for the remote areas?

See you around,

Shane

Hi All!

I stumbled upon the BP podcast on iTunes a while ago and have been listening to episodes as much as possible. I have to say it is GREAT and I am learning so much.

I consider myself a future investor that has limited real estate experience. I have always been interested in real estate and am so excited I found this community.

I have various experiences in real estate investing. I flipped a house with my father, but this was about 8 years ago when I was only 20 and I did not appreciate what we were doing. I was just looking forward to the pay check at the end. I learned a lot from the experience but I wasn't mature enough to really understand what it was we were doing and how we could have leveraged this into future projects.

I am now a CPA, I work full time for a large corporation, but I also have a side job bookkeeping for a family which owns multiple properties in the Boston area. The properties are mixed with residential and commercial tenants and we are currently about to break ground on another 42 unit apartment complex with retail on the ground floor. I enjoy this side job much more as I have a passion for accounting and real estate.

From these experience I have learned about real estate but I was never sure how to get started for myself. It appears that I have found a good start here with the BP community.

As I said, I consider myself a future investor. My next step is to develop a timeline, but my ideal track would be to buy a multi-family (4 unit or smaller) and use it a my primary residence also for a few years and then acquire more similar properties in the future.

I also have a lot of interest in spinning off my CPA and tax knowledge into a property management company.

I am very excited to begin using BP and learning as much as possible.

Thanks!

Shane
