I agree. An outright bailout of people and institutions reinforces bad patterns that emerge again down the road in a new set of clothes.
I'm not sure if nothing can be done now, but it seems like there must be some sort of middle road where financial solutions can be reached while still keeping the people on the hook that made poor decisions.
I honestly don't know what the answer is.

I recently went to a "free" Rich Dad seminar where they were basically selling the $495 course. I put "free" in quotes because although I did not have to pay anything, it was a complete waste of 90 minutes. It was pretty clear it was all a funnel to get you into their expensive educational forums.

I agree with Tim that it is about information now. Use your time in school to become proficient at learning and you will always succeed. Watch the college debt as others alluded to. If you have already saved 100K then you are light years ahead of most.

I agree with AdamT that you will likely need more than one electric model. The gas models are more efficient but also pricier. IMO the payback is too long to warrant the price tag, especially given the price of gas vs. electricity where I live. A middle of the road tank heater is usually the best call.

Coolstarts, been a while since you posted this question, but here are my thoughts. Your question is a bit broad to answer very well. Very generally what you need to do is get a very clear vision of what you intend to do, then develop your plan. Familiarize yourself with the subdivision ordinance of the county you plan to develop in and it will guide you through the steps such as surveying, preliminary plat approval, roads, etc. From that you can begin to get an idea of costs. If you are talking about putting four or five homes on 200 acres that's one thing, and if you are talking about fifty or more homes and a well developed infrastructure, well that's another.
One more thing of note is do not let an ideal set you up to get burned in a business deal. It can happen quite easily if too much importance is placed on the ideal and not enough on the specifics of the business plan. Let your philosophy and ethics guide you in implementing a profitable business venture, and I think your idea can be very profitable.
