Yes if you rent out your property you homeowners policy will probably be void you need a dwelling policy and if your market will allow it you should require your tenants to have renters insurance

It also states that doing so will result in suspension or revocation of your license.

I believe you but In California it’s illegal for a broker here to charge a fee and be appointed by a company. You have to do one or the other you can’t do both. This is stated on the department of insurance’s website. I will post the exact paragraph later today.

The thing is though insurance brokers aren’t supposed to get appointed by the insurance companies it’s not allowed if I want to represent the buyer and charge a fee for it

Hi, I am currently getting my property and casualty insurance license, I am almost done with my prelicensing, I plan on putting up a bond with the state and becoming an insurance broker. In the training, it doesn't teach anything about actually how to be an insurance broker and the forms and disclosures required. Through my own research of the insurance code, I have found that as a broker I need to give my client the Standard Broker Fee Agreement and Standard Broker Disclosure along with the applicable insurance pamphlets. Are there any other disclosures or forums I need them to sign or be aware of? Also, how do you go about getting an insurance quote for your client?

Possibly that sounds very similar so it might be the closest thing to it in your area. I was curious because according to the California department of insurance brokers can receive a sales commission from the insurer and charge a broker fee on top of that.

Actually Jason in California there is also brokers who represent the buyer they have no appointments with insurance companies and they cannot bind coverage they request a binder for there client and they are allowed to charge fees to there clients. Brokers need to put up a bond with the state unlike agents. if you don’t believe me you can read it for yourself at the California department of insurances website.
