Some great advice, thanks John. I'm still trying to figure everything out and the best ways to go about getting to my goals. I very much appreciate everyone's response, it is helping me focus on the direction I need to head.

Thanks for the welcoming guys. Michael, thanks for the pointer on lease options, I am considering those and have been on the lookout for them in my surrounding area.

Thanks Brandon, I've already read through the Beginners Guide but haven't looked at the podcast yet.
Thank you.

Hello All,
My name is Trent Aguon and I am new to real estate investing. The only real estate investing experience I have is I had bought a couple homes for myself personally, but never for an investment. I have been doing a lot of reading on the web, but mostly here on BP. I want to thank everyone for an awesome web site; there is a ton of information here that is helping me learn everything I need to know to get a good start investing.
I will be honest in saying that I'm having a tough time getting started, mostly because it's a scary thing to get started and my knowledge base isn't where I think it should be to make good decisions, that's why I've been doing as much reading about investing as I can before I jump in.
I think I've made some good progress so far as I have a long time real estate investor in my local area that is mentoring me; I bought land from him several years ago and built a home on it. During the transaction we became friends and I've been picking his brain trying to learn as much as I can from him, and he's been a lot of help.
I hope to be telling you more about my adventure in real estate investing as it comes at me.
