Post: Looking for advice in Westchester

My husband and I are in our late 20s and are looking to start investing in real estate in Westchester. We both have stead jobs and a reasonable down payment ($20K) and are looking to do this on the side. We are both knowledgable and handy with home repair. Our thoughts on where to begin are as follows: 1) Look for a relatively inexpensive house that needs minor repairs. Purchase the home and fix it up while living there. Then sell and repeat. 2) Buy a (2-4) multifamily home that needs minor repairs. Renovate and live in one apartment while renting out the others.

We are in the early stages of educating ourselves on the logistics. Any advice?
