Hi all,

Quick back story - first time home buyer a few months ago in Milwaukee (big thanks to @Marcus Auerbach). Longer post on that process once the house projects are finished up. 

Anyway, my property assessment increased almost 40% from the last assessment (house was completely renovated), but is still $65k under the closing price. Today I received a notice stating that I should schedule a walk through with an assessor to get a more accurate assessment. Is there any benefit to me to actually going through with this? Assessments in my area definitely lag the sales prices. Any chance the assessor's process is to tack on some assumed premium without being able to verify? I find it hard to believe that my assessment would be decreased and by law I'm not required to do anything.

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to the Milwaukee market and am aiming to buy a duplex but am wondering what to expect for the competitiveness of the market in the trendier Bay View/ Brady st / Shorewood areas? For instance, I relocated from Boston where coming with an all cash deal at 10% over asking is common. I would be using an FHA loan and obviously don't believe Milwaukee will be at the same fenzied level as Boston but would like to gauge the market as I begin to plan.

Hi Ryan,

I'm still fairly new to the MKE area (relocated here from Boston) and am also looking to connect with locals knowledgeable about the market and other investors. My short term goal is to move into a duplex by March 2018 so any insights you have on the local market would be greatly appreciated! Happy to discuss with anyone willing to connect. I'm also a CPA currently working in corporate finance consulting and happy to reciprocate help / advice on that front to any interested parties (or any other finance  / accounting peoples looking to connect).
