@Evan Polaski I agree 100%!!! I realize and defiantly  I am going to make some financial decisions going forward that I know I need to make! My credit union does not want me to get rid of the truck at the amount iam being offered, so am having to make the choice of pulling money out of my failing 401k of only $11,500. With the penalty and taxes I will get roughly $8,600. Something is better than nothing I guess but I am going take the money obviously and put it on the loan and bring down the loan amount, do a refinance and bring down the monthly payment. I can reinvest in my current employers 401k, but iam all in on getting a rental property (multi family) going forward! Iam a realist, I know that I can’t and won’t count on just 401k and Social  Security as I get older!! Thank you for your insight and professional guidance!! Be safe out there !!

I got a question and looking for advice for my current financial situation. I have going through a pre-qualification for a number of months. My debt to income ratio is a bit to high, which I knew going into it. I was told my current vehicle, 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 payment was too high and is affecting my debt to income ratio. I was told try to sell it or come up with money to pay more down on loan to get better refinancing and get a better payment. Iam in the process of getting 130k for a pre-qualification, iam looking to buy a duplex for my first rental property which will be a buy and hold. Long story short , I got around $12,000 in a rollover IRA that I could pull from to make this work. Iam seriously thinking of doing this to get ahead of this vehicle loan and get the payment down and changed. I would obviously have to start over with my new employer who matches your 401k

Contributions. I know I can’t count on just 401k and social security as I keep getting older, iam 42 years old now. Iam counting on real estate, multi family as my buy and hold strategy to retire on and count on as well. Is this a good thing to do with my current situation to make it all work ? Any advice or opinions?!

@Ryan Braman, yes iam very surprised at the lack of any REIA meetings here! I connected with a few people on here that told me there used to be meetings but then the investors stopped coming and they just stopped having them?! Iam from Roanoke and have seen it grow so much in the past 10 years, it has taken off and it's going to keep growing! Iam a newbie and looking to get into investing ASAP! Iam in the process of getting a pre-qualification as we speak but I may have to get rid of my truck to make it work which iam willing to do. I see you have experience and are experienced! That's awesome, I want to invest in multi-family as well going forward, buy and hold for long term. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated! I know Roanoke like the back of my hand and know all the areas that are good and bad!

So again to answer my question, are there any known meetups in Roanoke that anyone knows of ? I heard there used to be some but they stopped having them? Find it odd with the growth that Roanoke is having and the opportunity that is here that there are no meetups?!

Are there any investors groups in Roanoke currently? I was told there wasn’t , there used to be from what I know but things hopefully have changed.

Charles Iam a newbie and in the process of getting prequalified as we speak. I been asking around about any local investor meetings and I found someone on here that said they used to do them but they stopped coming? It’s hard for me to believe that there is no network in Roanoke for investors!

Post: Advice for a newbie, please......

@Jeremy Hart fully agreed!! Not only in those specific areas there will continue to be growth but also the South Roanoke City side of the hospital which is already a high value, high dollar area as is over by the Crystal Spring area. Grandin/Raleigh court has always been desirable, I own an apartment over there now and have been there for 5 years. But iam in the market for my first investment property, if you have any information or know of any properties like duplexes or townhouses iam definitely interested.
