I was recently encouraged to start doing direct mail. I am not looking forward to it for the reason that @Seth Williams mentioned. I don't want to waste a lot of time and money on a non-profiting campaign. I would like some suggestions as well.

@Brian Woline , I have not heard of going through the credit bureaus. I thought you can only get your own personal information, not others. Can you shed a little light on how that works.

I have had experience on both sides. When I first started out many years ago, I ran out and leased a oversized office, over priced equipment, and unneeded staff. I learned that the exorbitant overhead was killing my bottom line. The office was more for show than for profit. After two years I moved my office and staff to my home and the profits began. I have learned over the years that for my business model a office is not needed. I now work from home when needed, work on the road while doing business travel, and use virtual offices in different parts of the country to meet clients. Virtual offices are a inexpensive way to have a professional look and add credibility to your business.
