Hudson County is a great place to invest! This market is ON FIRE!! Union City can be tough bc the taxes are INSANE! Sales have increased 49% this year from last year, but if you're looking to buy & hold....be careful. Its hard to make a decent rent roll, but there are ALWAYS deals to be found....right!
One of the hottest areas to get into right now is Bergen Lafayette in Jersey City. Inventory is scarce in Downtown JC (down 29% from this time last year) which is causing major growth in Bergen Lafayette. Investors are buying buildings up left and right. Check out the articles online (especially 234 Suydam Ave). Buy near the light rail and the near the park/playground that is under reno. I guarantee you'll see a phenomenal return within the next 5-10 years!
How much are you looking to invest in your first property? If your budget is on the lower end like between $200K-$400K - Bergen Lafayette is PERFECT! (Taxes @ $4K-$6K)
If you can do $400K + you should look into Journal Square & The Heights. (Taxes are very reasonable for the most part)
Union City - has the highest taxes in Hudson County. Budget $250K-$400K - taxes @ $7K-$15K! Crazy...right!
If your want to see all of the MLS listings to get a better idea of the market I can gladly email them to you! I hope this info helps! HAPPY INVESTING!!
Andrea, I'm interested in these deals you are finding and would love to see more of the MLS listings if you can help me out.

Would love to know how many of you started out investing in RE. I'm a 19 year old student from New Jersey and have been reading all about real estate, multi-family, apartment acquisitions, and deal syndications. I want to go this route as i know i have some family members who would be willing to seek an investment with me on a multi-family investment.
What is my first step? Could you break down the syndication process and structure you guys have used in your deals? Any particular good areas around me i should be looking at?
Thank you,
Luis

Hello BP community! My name is Luis and i have been a lurking member of this site since i was 18, now 19. I have absorbed the basics through the forums, podcasts, and blog posts. The information here is amazing and i have shared all the knowledge with my parents/friends. I am a full-time college student and my dad wants to start investing in property. In the North New Jersey area what are some meetings i can attend? I would love shadow and learn from someone with multi-family/apartment property. I am looking to get the ball going! Very eager to learn and to rise to the top! Any help would be great!!
All the best,
Luis
