I understand you can depreciate the cost of the house, what I'm wondering is can you also depreciate the roof hvac etc...in additional to the total cost

How do tax deductions work if building a new rental property? I understand you can depreciate things like HVAC and roof over so many year. Does that same depreciation apply to new construction. For example if I build a new duplex can I still depreciate?
