At the very least I'll be able to empathize with my clients' problems! 

While I sincerely empathize with your situation, it seems that your lack of experience here is creating a misunderstanding of the situation. 

This is definitely a personal issue this family is facing, and while you may well empathize with her, you still need to have that professional distance.

But I don't care how much money somebody has or how many deals they've done; if they can't empathize or at least give an encouraging direction as to how they should proceed, then don't criticize them for trying to do something to change their life. 

Whether they want to sell to YOUYes, you should chat with them, empathize with them.

I remember it empathized with the decendants & their situation.

Call it venting, blowing off steam, or just having a reasonable conversation from our point of view among fellows who can empathize with us.
