If they make the condo their primary that opens up a number of options on the non-bank (private) financing side for rescuing their captive equity.

I rescued a company that drank the sub too lease option kool aid in Oregon..they did about 40 of them.. 

I would think you have to hire a PM and pay them up front to stablize and kick out the free loaders.. secure the house and haul all the stuff to the dump.. call animal rescue and have the animals removed.. 

You might also look into a Monetized Installment Sale to rescue a failing exchange.

I would think that short term prices would suppress on SFH's but from a little bit of online research about the RE effects of other hurricanes, that seems not to always be the case as demand goes up as rescue money and recovery related personnel pour into the region.
