When our children got older and began to scatter across the country, we decided to rent it out weekly as a vacation condo since we weren't using it as much.

As I look for deals I find my interests scattered anywhere from Duplexes to medium sized apartment buildings.

I have bought and sold over 900 properties for my own inventory and did Bigger Pockets Podcast #82.I've done vacant lots also, both scattered lots and land subdivision and development in 4 local counties.

I have an opportunity to purchase 21 apartments scattered across multiple buildings ( 80 total in the complex).

So we are largely in escondido with a few others scattered about.  

The worst example is someone did not want to pay capital gain tax sold their San Jose, CA home (converted to a rental) traded 5-1031 homes scattered in Midwest and southern states buying the cheapest homes.

I live for no muss no fuss 7% - 10% returns all day (with a home run scattered in there once in a while). 

Ps- this is 100% office but with some scattered retail within.

Rather they did it through intelligent use of various types of leverage, including debt. the investors were in LA  all the properties were scattered through out the mid west in the turn key markets and GA .
