I would do a move in checklist on the apartment now since  it is thought they maybe concealed breaking the lock you want a status of everything now.

Some 3 and 5% down conventional programs do not have MI but its concealed in the rate which can be better since mortgage interest can be a write off and MI is down the tubes.

But if someone did not want their ownership interest discovered, and went to 'reasonable' means to conceal that ownership interest, I think it is difficult to (using legal methods) find the owner.Using conventional means, the secretary of state filings are the obvious first choice for where to find owners.

Perhaps for the readers you can address the more important ideas that come with this plan of not recording things:Concealment = "...in any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States...knowingly conceals or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact" - LINKDuty of California Licensed Broker to Disclose = Suggesting to not disclose for the purpose of concealment seems to go against California Broker Code of Conduct.

Our contractor ingeniously relocated the water heater and concealed it behind a closet area next to the furnace and other utilities, thus allowing us to finish off the downstairs bathroom with drywall walls and tile flooring.
