The nice thing about Columbus specifically is that demand stays pretty consistent year-round thanks to Ohio State University’s 68K+ enrollment, constant job growth, and huge employers moving in like Intel, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Honda, LG, and more.

That would probably wipe out your cash flow, and for me, it would be tough to give up such a low interest rate.If you go the HELOC route, you’re right that it’s a floating rate loan.

Late to the party but I find it is usually due to an angry applicant who got disqualified due to being low credit score, or some of the other red flags that indicate a low performing tenant.

I have about 55k saved up and want to make sure I have all the information available to weigh my options To househack in New York with 20% down, you'll need to 3-4X your savings.If you go the low down-payment conventional (i.e. 5% min.) or FHA (min. 3.5%) loan routes, PMI should add ~$500-1,000 to your monthly mortgage.I'd recommend using the BiggerPockets calculators to run different scenarios.
