Your goal should be having a high salary, little debt so you can save and be able to invest.

We'd be willing to house-hack to get a deal, but we have two not so well-behaved dogs, so I can't imagine living in a home where their barking would disrupt others.

Can't be having my judgment clouded or questioned.

Then they have to sit there until it's done, to make sure nobody throws their underwear out on the floor, listening to everybody else's kids running around screaming (Our kids are very well-behaved, naturally).

Do not expect them to behave as you would in any given situation.
