Insurance carriers are notorious for slashing bills and as a result know most insurance defense firms will find ways to bill on these types of cases before they are resolved because they need their pound of flesh.Bear with me here, because there's no concise way to share this story but I dealt with a similar situation a few years ago where I purchased a piece of land in Philadelphia that turned out to be deed fraud.

Of course, confirm it is up to code as a fire pit (or inground wood burning BBQ, if need be called that) and your insurance company is OK with it.I would remove the plants near the house to reduce potential combustibles.
