Got this house to refirb and found that someone has taken the original furnace - a down-draft that blew into the ducts in the crawl-space - and changed it to an updraft.

But by then I had put a lot of money into things that I personally wanted - heavy-duty locking subfloors; 2x6 walls for more insulation; downdraft custom Jenn-Aire stove; etc - that no one wanted to pay extra for.

Perhaps, since Michigan did not have a housing bubble but did catch the downdraft of the economic collapse and the decline in manufacturing employment.
