Here area few other options:Basis adjustments: Add in every improvement you made over the 30 years—kitchen remodels, roof, windows, decks, etc.

I spoke with zoning and I can remodel if I keep the current footprint on the cabins.     

If you can rehab/remodel, that might help.   

Currently I do have some free time if needed to manage this process, but I don't have any experience with home remodels.

I would target turn key recent remodels that are accepting FHA because youll have less of a risk of it not passing VA guidelines and if a seller is accepting FHA offers they will probably take the VA as well.
