After days of back-and-forth, I finally received a corrected payoff letter on April 24 and wired the full amount on April 30.Now it’s been 23 days since I paid off the loan, and the lien still hasn’t been released.To make it worse, in May, Fay withdrew two additional payments from my account after the payoff.

If the bank accounts are still active and have funds, a bank garnishment could happen after you get a judgment.If it is higher priority to try and teach the past tenant a lesson, than actually collecting the full amount owed, one potential option is to find a local attorney to send a demand letter.

If your extension hands out POF letters to just anyone—qualified or not—then let’s call it what it is: a scam.Websites offering these kinds of “proof” letters are a dime a dozen online, usually with no verifiable bank statement and zero credibility.

In our case, what we usually do is ask them to send us a formal signed letter explaining the specific reason why they need to pay their rent in two installments (usually because of how they get paid at work).We also ask for their permission and the contact number of their employer to verify the information.
