I had to wear a respirator to stand it.

@Adam DrummondAdam, your profile tells me you've been in the business for a bit, but still, word to the wise -- respirator with organic vapor cartridges is a must when working with oil-based poly.

Those paint strippers will eat right through organic vapor catridges in a respirator, and they really don't work all that well anyway without multiple, repeated applications.After the heat gun, you might want to try the Citristrip product on trouble spots.

I bought a mold respirator mask and went to town. 

you could not walk in the houses with out a respirator the stink was so putrid.. but these folks they live like this day in day out..

I would turn off the fans,wear your respirator and vacuum with a Heppa vacuum, not the normal hepa vacuum but the profesional one if you want to be really careful.

All debris has to be bagged and workers need to be in body suits with respirators.

Please make sure you or workers wear cartridge style air respirator when removing that carpet and spraying with any of these strong chemicals also probably should wear a white tyvek style suit etc. 

I rehabbed it wearing chem respirators from work & didn't touch it again for 30 years.
