I don't expect to be spoon fed an education about the neighborhoods, but i was wondering if anyone had any specific pointers for me about researching the different neighborhoods in terms of what would be the right fit for me to invest in?

To avoid appearing like you want to be spoon fed, do some things that will show that you are willing to make a personal contribution to your learning by doing the things that are easy to do on your own. 

Also, I agree that you may get farther with a spoonful of sugar or however that saying goes.  

Now they shouldn't spoon feed you leads but if they can kick some your way that'd help.

In my experience this site's all star professionals favor self starters who can and will get after it, while folks who need to be spoon fed get eaten alive by the gurus and salesmen who spot a mark.Hope that helps!
