Usually when I write about this sort of thing, I prefer to be wrong rather than right.I just wanted to highlight the fact that a disturbing majority of people with good-sized incomes cut themselves offf from the wealth-building potential that comes with intentionally choosing to live below their means.

It's disturbing how many times I will be talking to an investor and they'll be telling me how many properties they used to own ie "Man, at one point I had 43 houses" etc etc... and then when I ask what happened, the response is always "...I got divorced."

Depends completely on the structure and how it was maintained.Items I had to address (planned for most):Plumbing, Electric, Roof, tuck pointing, boiler.Ran into asbestos which I did not address or disturb, can be fairly expensive to remediate.Windows had already been completed but insulation in the house was not great.

Consult your municipality's ordinance for storing oil/flammables.You may avoid liability if you informed the tenant the barrel contained oil and told them not to disturb it.
