I'd have done it when the welfare check people were there...he displayed erratic behavior leading to their concern for his safety and you were also concerned before that...that sounds like he could be in an unsafe situation and need immediate help e.g. an emergency...so no 24 hr notice required...

Trump is so completely polarizing nowadays, that anytime i see someone proudly displaying their Trump politics (either for or against) within a business context, i just assume they WANT to drive off people with different views, AND that is more important to them than their business success.
