The building is typically zoned and permitted for short term rental use, so there's very little chance you'd ever be banned from doing short term rentals if they crack down in that market (like they are cracking down in my market).Cons: They typically charge 25% (in my market, at least).

There are many wholesalers that have done 10s, or 100s of deals illegally and have never been caught because the reality is that generally speaking most states don't actively crack down on such cases unless someone files a formal complaint, much like someone driving 5mph over the speed limit.

I saw on tv once that they used a jackhammer to grind the crack down and out, then they poured concrete, and eventually a leveling agent was used.

Chances are you likely wouldn't have a problem or get audited using a "residential cost seg" until the IRS decides to crack down on these providers, but it wouldn't be fun to be the unlucky one who gets to be their example.

The whole service dog/animal thing is getting out of control and I think they (political officials who make the laws) need to crack down on it some...but that discussion is for another day.
