You customers who ask me to do jobs on the side know you are thieves and you know my employees will steal the materials for your job just like you walking into a supermarket and stuffing steaks under your clothing.

That one dollar gets spent seven (7) times in its local economy, (cleaners, restaurants, movies, clothing, rent, etc)  If that job is suddenly cut it takes those seven (7) dollars out of the economy.

The area isn't a high net worth market where they need to see you in designer clothes before you are taken as a serious buyer.  

To some under-dressing may do the same, although I have successfully negotiated apt buildings best with tired landlords in my homeless construction plumber painter clothes.  

It was pretty cool being 19 and making good money off these projects.However, unlike the majority of our peers, we didn’t blow it at bars or on clothes.

We drive old cars and wear comfortable clothes.
