lol with real estate, I am always working... even when I was in my honey moon away in the mountains(I was in the middle of a deal, my new husband had to drive me around to find internet and cell phone receptions) He has planed our honeymoon months before the wedding but he changed the honeymoon plan so I can have my deal.

and since you can buy a plane with as little at 5 to 10% down and finance at bank rates 4 to 5% for 20 to 30 years ( like a boat or RV) popping for that 5 or 7 million dollar jet is just 300k down and 20k a month :)It's my understanding that it is quite possible to not be able to take the depreciation deduction, so it is a "carry forward" thing that can be taken when earnings and other deductions permit - I am not a tax expert, just stating what my understanding is.

I am always amazed that someone will spend $200k+ and not want to spend $300 on plane tickets.... its one thing when you have a trusted partner and you have worked with them on other deals, it is another if you are just learning about a market online and going with the group that markets the best.Turnkey providers can be great, but there are a few out there that just looking to take your money.

To be honest, I'd really like to stay involved in real estate as I seem to have grown passionate about it, but I'm not sure how since all my properties are a 3hr plane ride away and investing nearby isn't much of an option.

If you don't think see the validity in the comparison, and you accept the fact that anyone can learn enough about REI through casual resources, and that the limited success gained of those casual resources is fine and acceptable, and the idea of looking beyond the simple and striving for better rather than accepting limits, then go ahead and change the surgeon to (choose any of the above) the:1 - Engineer that designed the structure of the building you work in, 2 - Person cutting your hair,3 - Accountant that does you taxes,4 - Air Traffic Controller that keeps planes from crashing,5 - The Pilot the flies those planes,6 - The Captain that sails the cruise ships,7 - Electrician that wired your house,8 - The plumber that plumbed your house,9 - Pharmacist that dispenses your meds10 - Software Engineer that designed the software you use,11 - ...I'm sure others can add to this list.
