The value of these shares are very much based on the psychology of the buyers/sellers, and the short term profit predictions/results of the companies--and "investors" are very fickle and easily spooked and companies are pretty hard to get your head around.

(Albeit there are plenty of exceptions, especially back in 2008 when just about everyone was getting foreclosed on.)That being said, I think people getting foreclosed on tend to go through the same five stages psychologically as those who are dying: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and then acceptance.
