Carefully have someone raise or tilt the washer an inch or so to give you some room under it, feel around the floor directly under.

I am tilting towards not needing to because I would have put half of interest income on my filed tax and the other half on my wife's filed tax under the 1040 section.

If it is raining horizontally - which is typical here in the Maritimes in spring - the windows are not likely opened regardless if they are casement or single/double hung.Awning and hopper windows are simply casements on their side and are more rain friendly - we tend to use them frequently in bathrooms and over kitchen sinks.Another efficient design is the tilt-in-turn - though less common in N.A. than Europe.  

I won't be investing in the riskiest/most supportable asset subclasses such as hotels, and tilt my portfolio the ones that have historically been more stable such as multifamily and single-family housing.
