The Sundance Film Festival, and ski season are your big money makers for STRs, although Sundance is postponed this year.

But from my (non-lawyer) understanding, it's generally legal to film or record people without their consent in public where they should not expect privacy, but generally illegal when someone is in their home where they can expect privacy (state laws probably vary on this).
