I got started by bouncing around primary residences for a few years but never selling any of them.

Markets always bounce back, so if you are prepared to get smacked around, then you will be ok in the event of a downturn. 

A mentor is someone that you can bounce ideas off of during coffee or lunch.

There are facebook groups for tax pros- Kind of nice to have because if you're self employed it lets you bounce thoughts off other professionals.

I also bounced it off the local UT laws that I found here (https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title57/57.html) to make sure I wasn't leaving anything out.

It can sometimes take a week to find out a check has bounced so that would put you in the middle of the month.

People are definetly going to move out of state but I don't think a huge percentage of the tech talent is going to fan out all over the country and there will be a portion of those that do who bounce back to CA.
