I used the same negotiating tactics when I bought cars from car dealers, by getting the lowest price possible (after extensive research of the market) , to the extent that I have paid wholesale prices (after hefty discounts and application of all the existing rebates from manufacturer and favorable terms from financing company) on purchases of new cars.
