I give tenants 90 days advance notice and ask them to respond within 30 days so they have sufficient time to think about it. i.e. if they want to continue then sign the lease or if they want to leave then give a 60 day vacate notice.

My understanding is that with VA loans you need to close with the intention of occupying the property, and most lenders want you to move in within 60 days after closing, but that there is more flexibility on the occupancy requirement with VA than other loan types. 60 days should give you plenty of time to get the tenant out even if you need to evict (check your local laws for proper notice to vacate/ non-renew a M2M, and average eviction times in your area).
