Some level of protection will almost certainly be provided as opposed to some sort of outright ban.  

Now I'm banned for spamming and while I'd like to handle this privately I'm blocked from the messaging system. 

Also, keep in mind if it causes an undue burden on you or is too costly you can deny them. for example, if your insurance company says that dog breed is on the ban list then you need to find out how much it will cost to insure them. if the rates go up because of the dog then you can deny them based on the undue burden. 

Several participants made the point in response that the county for a very long time has stood in the way of affordable housing being constructed, first and foremost by zoning, and that an STR ban isn't going to solve the problem.

Those property use codes may come in handy for other purposes, such as when my municipality is aiming to ban STRs.

Hello Doug, I am not a real estate attorney nor is this legal advice.Unless someone's state has specific laws banning contract assignments you should be fine doing the following.  

STR is banned from NYC.

Though I have purchased some with a mix where 330+ days a year, people parked in the driveway and the street except when there were snow bans, but there was enough room to fit everyone in the driveway/parking lot, and that was a hassle to deal with some days. 

Short term tenants are not protected by the the eviction ban.
