Great question—it really depends on your state’s requirements, but in general, tenant security deposits should be kept in a separate, dedicated account (sometimes even an interest-bearing one, depending on local laws).I use Baselane for this—it lets me create separate virtual accounts for each property or purpose, which makes it easy to keep security deposits apart from operating funds.
