I'm thinking if we can encourage the current tenant to vacate early, we can get a head start on repairs/updates and have it tenant-ready sooner.

Found this blog post (Impermanent Structures For Summer Vacation or all Year Rentals.) a while ago, I'm in the middle of buying my first property on 5 acres and I'd love to rent out all the units and live in an impermanent structure if the town allowed it.

I work a day job in Human Resources for a small firm in the Charlotte area and I do enjoy it but ultimately, I want to be my own boss and work for myself.

For the Napa project it was just being interested in the area for all the right personal enjoyment reasons but wrong investment reasons. hahaWe were looking up there for a retirement home after spending many weekends up there for anniversary's, birthdays, etc. 

I also enjoy investing not only in real estate but stocks as well.

Quicken Loans, for example, will allow you to rent out your vacation home for up to 180 days.
