It likely won’t pass board of health occupancy standards due to egress issues.  

Ask for proof work done, what contractor they used, what guarantees exist.....but with it being a few years ago, i wonder if its of any concern...call the health dept

But the lease states everything was in working order and followed all health and safety codes.

I remember a BP podcast guest who had a serious health issue come on suddenly (he was crippled for months) and had it not been for those checks coming in every month his family would have been in deep trouble. 

I suppose it would have been good if someone had been careless in the construction and created a health hazard.  

With the next inspection or turn over, we will be alert to the problem and come armed with an extra drain assembly and plumber's putty, in addition to the smoke detector batteries and light bulbs.
