As a former New Yorker who moved to Las Vegas to invest, I'd say while building an equity position is great, it is best to invest in markets that offer you better cash flow per dollar invested.

I don’t have much money saved for a down payment and was approved for only $200k which doesn’t seem to go too far in the Las Vegas area unless in tougher parts of town.
